Volunteer Opportunities and Internships
Here are four ways to become engaged with the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH).
The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities seeks dynamic arts management undergraduate and graduate students to intern in the areas of Grants, Public Art, Cultural Events, and Arts Education. Summer internship commitments vary from 20-40 hours/week and Academic Year internships range from 8-16 hours/week. Academic credit may be available to students who meet the requirements of their respective colleges/universities.
To apply for an internship for Summer 2014, please submit a resume, cover letter detailing areas of interest, and a 1-2-page writing sample to David Markey, Arts Education Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org / (202) 671-1354.
Internships are unpaid, however, students receive a stipend for their time with DCCAH.
Deadline for receipt of applications is March 31, 2014.
The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) is seeking advisory review panelists for the FY15 grant season. Panelists are integral to the DCCAH's grants process because they review applications, provide comments, and score applications in order to recommend recipients of DCCAH grant awards.
Visit the FY15 Call for Panelists page for additional information about the panel process and eligibility requirements. Individuals may self-nominate. Nominations are reviewed periodically throughout the year.
For more information, contact email@example.com at (202) 724-5613.
Numerous volunteer opportunities exist within the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Community volunteers are essential, for example, at the International Film Festival, the Poet Laureate's Poetry Festival, the Larry Neal Writers' Awards and the Mayor's Arts Awards.
Summer Youth Employment (SYEP)
DCCAH, in partnership with the Department of Employment Services, exposed more than 50 DC youth to internship experience at more than 20 nonprofit arts organizations in 2011. If you or your child is a registered SYEP participant and is interested in an arts internship this summer, please email Ariel Wilson, Arts Education Program Associate at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (202) 724-5613.
