Board of Chiropractic License Renewal

Thank you for deciding to renew your license with the Department of Health – Health Professional Licensing Administration. From this site, you can begin the license renewal process.

The next renewal period begins October 1, 2014. 

The renewal process consists of five steps:

1. License Renewal Form
2. Payment by credit card (Mastercard or Visa) or check (paper renewal only)
3. Complete Criminal Background Check

You may complete the renewal process online, or download and print a paper renewal. Note that online renewal requires the use of Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher:

I get an error message after entering Social Security Number and Last name.

Once logged in, I do not see the license I need to renew.

When I click on the "Renew" button, I get a "No License to Renew" message.

I do not remember my password.

If you are a new user or a returning user who has forgotten his/her password, please go to the online renewal page and create a new login information by entering your Social Security Number and Last Name. 

I am unable to submit my payment.

You will not be able to submit your payment if you are using Safari or Google Chrome browsers to renew your license online. So, please use a computer with Firefox, Internet Explorer 6 or higher and you should be able to submit your payment.

How can I get a paper renewal form?

The renewal application package can be downloaded from the Board of Chiropractic page.

Once renewed, how long will it take to get my new license?

Typically it takes up to 2 business days for renewal applications to be processed and mailed out to the licensee. If there is a hold on your license it will only be processed once the hold is released. Please call 1-877-672-2174 if your application has not been processed for over 5 business days since submission.

I do not practice in the District of Columbia any longer. But, I may decide to do so in the future. What do I need to do?

You have to download the paper application from the Board of Chiropractic page and indicate on the form that it is a Paid-Inactive application.

How can I confirm that I have renewed?

You can look up your license details using the License Search tool .

PAID INACTIVE REQUESTS

To request your license be placed on Paid Inactive status, a paper renewal must be completed. Contact customer service at (202) 724-4900 or (202) 724-8800 for more information.

ATTENTION ALL APPLICANTS FOR A LICENSE, CERTIFICATE, OR REGISTRATION: “The term for a certificate, license, or registration issued or renewed…shall be two (2) years or for the balance of the license period, whichever is shorter.” Title 17 Chapter 40, Section 4006.1
