What is Sodium?
Sodium helps your body balance the level of fluid inside and outside your cells. Increased sodium in your body can cause your body to hold excess fluid. Reducing the amount of sodium you consume can help lower your blood pressure, and also manage your weight.

Why is it Important to Reduce Sodium Intake?
High amounts of sodium can raise your blood pressure. High blood pressure (also known as hypertension) is dangerous because it makes your heart work too hard and increases the risk for heart disease and stroke. High blood pressure can also cause other problems such as heart failure, kidney disease, and blindness.
