Community Health Needs Assessment

The District of Columbia Community Health Needs Assessment is a comprehensive analysis and review of the health and quality of life of DC residents. This document was developed by utilizing information collected by the DC Health Department (DOH) through various survey instruments, disease registries, and other essential databases maintained and administered by DOH and, for the first time, consolidated in one report. The selection and prioritization of certain health measures included in this report were consensus-based and determined by data availability, relevance to Healthy People 2010 goals, and alignment with focus areas identified in the Mayor’s One City Action Plan and Sustainable D.C. Plan. In order to measure progress towards the District’s health goals and identify the health needs of the District of Columbia, this report provides baseline data using 2010 statistics or the most recent available for each measure of health, and serves as the first step in the journey to DOH accreditation
